Campaign services

Paid search and social for campaigns: own the candidate, the opponent and the issues.

When a voter is curious, they search the candidate's name, and whoever holds the top of that page controls the first impression. We run Google search for the candidate's name, the opponent's name and the issues, and Meta and YouTube for persuasion and mobilization. Verification and disclaimers are handled before the first ad, creative rotates as the race moves, and every ad lands on the persuasion hub.

Compliance built in: verification, disclaimers, texting registration and voter-data handling. How it works

What is included.

  • Search for the candidate's name

Google, so the campaign holds the top of its own page.

  • Search for the opponent's name and the issues

Where policy allows, with the contrast page as the landing page.

  • Meta and YouTube

Persuasion and mobilization campaigns with political advertiser verification and 'Paid for by' disclaimers.

  • Rapid creative rotation

New creative in days, not weeks, as the race moves.

  • Landing pages on the persuasion hub

Every ad lands on the page that answers its question.

  • Daily pacing through election day

Budget spent on the calendar, not by accident.

  • Reporting

Impression share, clicks, hub visits and sign-ups, weekly.

The Auction Method

Relevance buys the top of the page for less.

Search engines rank ads on bid multiplied by how relevant and useful the ad and landing page are. Raise relevance and the same budget buys a better position at a lower cost per click.

Why the highest bid does not win the top slot

Search engines rank ads on bid multiplied by how relevant and useful the ad and landing page are. Raise relevance and the same budget buys a better position at a lower cost per click.

Bid × Quality Score = Ad Rank
Advertiser A$6.00 bid · Quality Score 4/10
Ad Rank 24
Position 2Pays more per click
Advertiser B (built the P1 way)$4.00 bid · Quality Score 9/10
Ad Rank 36
Position 1Pays less per click

Questions

Questions about paid search and social for campaigns

Can we advertise on the opponent's name?

Where platform policy allows, yes, and it is one of the highest-intent searches in any race. The landing page is the contrast page, sourced.

How targeted can Google election ads get?

Google limits US election ads to location, age, gender and contextual targeting. There is no remarketing, no voter-file matching and no radius targeting in Google search for election ads, so we plan the search buy around geography and the words voters actually search.

How long does verification take?

Days to weeks depending on the platform, which is why it is the first thing we do. Start before you need the ads.

What is impression share?

The share of impressions your ads received out of the impressions they were eligible for, on the searches you target. Google Ads reports it for your own campaigns, and auction insights compares you with the other advertisers in those same auctions.

Can we use the voter file on Google and YouTube?

No. Google election ads, YouTube included, can target only by location, age, gender and context, so there is no voter-file matching or remarketing. We hold the top of the page for the candidate's name on search and run voter-file audiences on Meta, streaming TV and display.
